About the working group
An intellectual hub for a difficult question
The Working Group on Antisemitism in Muslim Societies is an international, interdisciplinary initiative of The East–West Foundation.
It brings together scholars, students, and practitioners to build a shared body of knowledge and to develop practical strategies for understanding and resolving antisemitism within Muslim communities and societies. The work is comparative and context-sensitive, attentive to history, theology, politics, and the lived realities of communities across the world.
Grounded in the Foundation’s commitment to covenantal pluralism — the conviction that people of different faiths can be bound to one another in mutual respect and shared responsibility while remaining fully themselves — the Working Group approaches this subject in a spirit of rigorous scholarship rather than recrimination. Its purpose is not only to describe the problem, but to help resolve it.

Monthly Lectures
A regular seminar series featuring leading scholars and emerging voices — an ongoing forum for scholarly exchange and public engagement.
Published Research
Original scholarship, working papers, and analyses that advance the study of antisemitism in Muslim societies and inform effective responses.
Annual Virtual Convening
A yearly online gathering that brings the community together to share findings, debate ideas, and set the agenda for the year ahead.
An Intellectual Hub
A durable home for understanding this challenge and developing strategies to resolve it, connecting researchers worldwide.

Lawrence Kuo
Lawrence Kuo leads the Working Group’s research programme, coordinating its scholarship, lecture series, and annual convening.
Co-Director
Priv.-Doz. Mag. Dr. Hüseyin Çiçek
Senior Research Fellow, Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society, Universität Wien (University of Vienna). Dr. Çiçek brings the comparative study of religion, politics, and society to the Working Group’s agenda.
